Our preschool program welcomes children from approximately three to four years old. We use thematic units and weekly lesson plans to create learning experiences that are appropriate for each child’s age, development, and understanding.
A typical day may include circle time, center activities, storytime, music, art, dramatic play, blocks, math, group projects, and hands-on activities. Some parts of the day are guided by the teacher, while other times allow children to choose what interests them and explore at their own pace.
We want children to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing their ideas, trying something new, and learning from the experience.
Planning With Each Child in Mind
Our preschool teachers prepare weekly lesson plans around different areas of development, including:
- Cognitive development
- Language development
- Fine and gross motor skills
- Self-help skills
- Social and emotional development
These skills naturally become part of the children’s everyday experiences. A conversation during circle time can build language skills. Building with blocks can encourage problem-solving. An art project can give children a chance to practice fine motor skills and express an idea of their own.
We pay attention to how children are growing and use those observations to plan experiences that give them opportunities to practice new skills.
